Is Your Home Winter Proofed?

All Posts

As the weather begins to dip now is the time to think about winter-proofing your home. Cold draughts and faulty boilers are not going to keep you warm so resolving your heating issues should always be made a priority. Luckily, if you need financial support we can help you gain funding through the ECO3 Grant to increase the efficiency of your home for a comfortable and safe environment.

Insulated walls

Here are some top ways of winter proofing your home.

Upgrade your boiler

Winter is the peak season for boilers as they’re required to use more power for longer periods. If you’ve already noticed problems with your boiler or it’s completely cut out, upgrading your installation is key. The last thing you want is to enter the winter period without reliable central heating or for it to stop working halfway through.

Add loft insulation

Did you know that a large portion of heat is loft via the roof? Without proper insulation you could be paying higher heating bills that you need to! Heat rises so by keeping your loft space well insulated you can prevent major heat loss and keep your home much warmer for longer. Loft insulation is a barrier of material within your roof space. It can either be laid between the joists or the rafters to keep warmth in the roof space.

Insulate solid walls

Insulating your solid walls could cut your heating costs considerably, and make your home more comfortable. If your home was built before the 1920s, its external walls are probably solid walls rather than cavity walls which means they cannot be filled with cavity wall insulation. However, solid walls can be insulated in other ways either from the inside or the outside.

Preparing your home for winter can be expensive but through the ECO3 Scheme you can benefit from a heating grant and improve the comfort of your home.

At UK Energy Management (NE) Ltd, we can help you stay warm this winter. We have heating funding from utility companies to assist low income and vulnerable households whether you’re living in a privately rented or owned property across the UK.
