What is a cavity wall insulation grant – and how can it help lower my bills?
If your home has cavity walls and they aren’t insulated, heat can escape quickly – which means you may need to run your heating more often to stay comfortable.
A cavity wall insulation grant can cover the cost of insulating those walls if you qualify, helping your home stay warmer for longer and potentially reducing energy waste.
If you’re not sure whether your property is suitable, don’t worry – we’ll check this for you as part of the process.
Who can qualify for a cavity wall insulation grant?
You may qualify if:
you own your home, and
someone in your household receives certain qualifying benefits (or meets the scheme criteria you use), and
your property is suitable for cavity wall insulation.
Eligibility can depend on your household circumstances and your property – so the quickest way to find out is to complete the short check.
Funding is available across England, Scotland and Wales – enter your postcode to check availability in your area.
What happens if I qualify?
If you qualify, we’ll take care of everything on your behalf:
- a quick eligibility check
- a survey to confirm your home is suitable
- the paperwork
- arranging the installation
If you qualify, the work is fully funded – you pay nothing.
Apply now – it takes about a minute, and we’ll let you know the next steps.
Why ventilation matters with cavity wall insulation
Helps reduce condensation and mould risk – good airflow helps prevent moisture build-up, which can lead to condensation and mould.
Keeps the cavity drier – without proper ventilation, moisture from condensation, leaks or rain penetration can become trapped and affect performance.
Supports healthier indoor air – ventilation can help remove everyday airborne pollutants from cooking, cleaning and smoking.
Works alongside insulation for comfort – insulation helps retain heat, while ventilation helps manage excess moisture so the home stays comfortable.
How is cavity wall insulation funded?
If you qualify, the cost of cavity wall insulation can be covered through the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) – a UK Government-backed scheme that requires energy suppliers to fund energy-efficiency improvements for eligible households. That’s why you may not have to pay for the survey or installation. Want the details? Read more about ECO4 here.
If you don’t qualify for an ECO4 grant, you may still be eligible for support through the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS), which also offers funding for cavity wall insulation. GBIS is designed to help a wider range of households improve energy efficiency, even where ECO4 criteria aren’t met.
Here’s what cavity wall insulation can do for your home:
Government-funded for eligible households
If you qualify under ECO4 (or related criteria), the work is fully funded – you pay nothing.
Helps reduce heat loss
Uninsulated walls can let heat escape, which may push your heating costs up. Insulating the cavity helps your home retain warmth for longer.
A warmer, more comfortable home
Less heat escaping through the walls means a cosier home, especially in colder months.
May improve your home’s efficiency
Better insulation can improve overall comfort and energy performance, which can be a plus if you ever decide to sell.
Installed properly, with suitability checked first
We arrange a survey to confirm your property is suitable, then handle the paperwork and installation process on your behalf.
